Have you ever said the expression “When I grow up, I want to be like _________”? Well I said that and yesterday for that matter. I went to a dear cousins wedding and I have to say that I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much at a wedding before. It was so beautiful, not just the decor, but by the beauty of the room that was encompassed by the love there.
The woman my cousin married is an extraordinary woman, she has an ability to love like none other. Not only has she chosen to love him, but she has taken in his two, stunning daughters as well. I have watched her support my cousin in all of his endeavors and be apart of any journey he has chosen to embark upon. She is a true lover.
As I watched her walk down the aisle, naturally I was in awe as she looked exquisite, but what made her even more captivating was the love that she beamed from within. As I looked back at my cousin, he stood there awaiting to take his bride as his own, with tears filling his eyes. She had brought the sparkle back, though others in the past had once removed it, this woman who loves so well brought it back. As a member of his family, what she has done for him is priceless. She is golden in our eyes.
At one point I said to his mother, “You know when I grow up, I want to be just like Mindy.” That’s her name. Yes I want to be a woman who loves like Mindy. Who’s nurturing, encouraging, patient, giving and who lives with unconditional love.
She inspired me, her love for my cousin makes me want to be a better person, a better lover. Her love for his daughters takes my breath away. She’s an incredible person, I deeply admire.
Yes, when I grow up, I want to be like Mindy.
