Yesterday I posted a quote on my Facebook wall that said ““The best way to find your perfect match is to meet love halfway.” ~Unknown”. Now you would know that if you were following me on my Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Arica-Angelo/109319522422164 , however I’ll pardon you for the time being.
A friend of mine commented on my post by saying “The best way to find your perfect match is to get really really good at receiving love.” Coming from a precious friend and one who has an incredible marriage, needless to say I believe her! Oddly enough, I spoke with one of my mentors this morning and out of the clear blue, he was sharing with me the power of receiving! Coincidence, I think not.
Webster says to receive is : to accept as authoritative, true, or accurate. Or : to come into possession of : acquire. I’m not sure about you, but receiving sounds like something pretty easy to do right? Well as easy as it maybe, surprisingly we can all too often not cooperate with it and sometimes can avoid it all costs.
Think about it. Someone passes you a compliment, what do you do with it? A friend gives you a hug, do you cringe? A generous friend offers to help you out, do you allow them? As much as we’d all like to think that we’re excellent at this thing we call “receiving”, the truth of the matter is, it’s an area we can all improve in.
So, for those of you still dating, why not brush up on your receiving skills and allow the person you’re dating to pass you a compliment, that you receive well! In a relationship? When that special someone wants to do an extra little something for ya, be quick to say yes and embrace the moment of receiving.
This is the part where I should plug my new favorite gluten free chocolate chip cookies in, along with a P.O. Box and say that I’m more than happy to receive as many as you’d all like to send!! Really, as simple as receiving sounds, it can be unnerving at times. However I’d like to encourage you to press through your uncomfortable state and allow yourself to receive more.
Receiving love, I mean isn’t that why we’re all here?!
