Is there that one Christmas gift out there that has really caught your eye and you just can’t stop thinking about it?? Well I know exactly what I want and when I see anything similar to it, it captures my attention. I think that’s the beauty of Christmas, it returns us back to our hearts while stirring desires and wants.
Sometimes the mundanely life routines get us in a rut that we find ourselves satisfied if we’ve managed to get through the day without complications. However life is meant for so much more. We’re not designed to just survive, but rather thrive and enjoy this life we’ve been given. So when Christmas arrives on the scene, it’s the beautiful reminder to awaken our hearts for more.
I can remember the times as a single thinking “I WANT for Christmas…a significant other!!” Now mind you I wasn’t saying that when I was running with my girlfriends, with guys all around the night before. No, in those moments I was having a blast! But when it came time to be with the family and reflect on what’s important, the random Joe’s, Mike’s and John’s I met the night before, weren’t going through my head. I wanted more. I wanted someone who I could cherish, hold and be with.
So what if you have that special someone this Christmas Season? While many singles are out there mingling and looking for hopefuls, you have been given the special gift of love. Will you treasure it? Will you allow thankfulness to arise in your heart for the one whom you are with? Or will you be in the same zone of ”I WANT! I WANT! I WANT”, shifting your focus to gadgets and trinkets that you really don’t need, but find yourself obsessed with?
I challenge you to really soak in the fact that you have love around you. That you’re not out trying to find love, but that you have been graced with the privilege of already receiving it. That you will absorb the moment of having your precious person, breathe in the precious moments you’ve been given with them and remember to value the one standing before you.
Instead of screaming “I WANT for Christmas!!”… you can be the one to say.. “I’ve been so blessed..as I HAVE for Christmas!”
