Yes it was him calling after me, the guy who had saw me a couple of nights prior.
(Read Part 1 Here)
You might be wondering, "How did you know he saw you?" Well I'm getting there darling, keep paying attention.
I was on my way out, heading home for the evening, until I heard the most angelic British accent that stopped me dead in my tracks.
"Hello, hi, how are you?..."
He was nervous.
"Oh I'm fine, how are you? Nice to meet you" I said.
"You know, I think you I saw you the other night at that service.." he explained.
"Ah yes I was there, but I'm sorry I didn't see you?" I responded.
He went on to explain where he was and when he saw me (well part of the story, the rest I would discover later).
"I'm not in the states much longer and I'll be flying back to England, but I wanted to know if you wanted to go for a coffee some time in the next couple of days?"
Moment of transparency.
I had dates lined up for the next 3 nights, there was no way between my 9-5, LA traffic and my dates, would I find the time to squeeze in a coffee.
Naturally I didn't tell him that ;)
"Well to be honest, I'm pretty tied up for the next several days, (I could see the disappointment settling in his eyes) but I could do tonight?"
Honestly, I was so tired and had a really early morning, but something in me couldn't turn this guy down.
From the looks of him, he was wearing a t-shirt and cargo shorts with tennis shoes. I hate when guys dress so homely looking, so it wasn't his appearance that was tugging on my heart strings.
However, there was an elegant strength that he seemed to carry, along with a tender, yet masculine voice. And how could I turn down that British accent, as they were my favorite of all accents?
It was late and I could tell that it wasn't the optimal time for him either, however he said that he would go let his mates know he was heading out with me and he'd be right back.
We were in Pasadena and the only thing we could find open was a Cheesecake Factory, so Cheesecake Factory it was.
He took charge of the conversation by doing my favorite thing, asking questions.
Curiosity is a beautiful quality.
Many men fail to realize that this sense of curiosity is something we women find endearing. Rather than asking if you can ask, just ask.
When your sincere about your curiosity and you sincerely want to get to know her, it melts us as a woman. It makes us feel seen and cared for.
That's exactly what this gentleman did for me.
For the first time in awhile, here was someone who was asking very thoughtful questions and he validated me along the way.
It was a beautiful and tender moment.
To me, his ability to be caring, curious, coupled with his strong like tenderness had me in awe.
Sure I had gone on plenty of casual dates and coffees, but this particular gentleman had me more intrigued.
I thought about him the entire next day. To be able to ask such real questions, to not be overtaken by my responses and to validate me and my journey, had me in a trance and I was unsure where all of it would lead.
But I knew one thing, his strength melted me and I was intoxicated.
Yes gentleman, a beautiful strength is intoxicating to us women.
