Mothers, where in the world would we all be without them? Well for one we wouldn’t be here. Today on Facebook I saw someone post in honor of Mothers Day “I make humans. What’s your super power?” Too right. Mothers really are the super women who make it all happen.
My own mother never ceases to amaze me. I’m the oldest of four, so needless to say my mother has had a pretty busy life raising four bambinos. I always knew my mom was pretty special, I mean everyone who meets her always comes back and tells me what a sweet, gracious person she is. But it wasn’t until last year that I saw just how much of a super woman my mom truly is.
I’ve shared about my baby sister being hit by a drunk driver and how she’s now currently living in a nursing home at the ripe age of 21. Probably one of the toughest things my family has had to endure, along with the longest trial we have had to face. But it was after my sisters accident that I saw some interesting super powers that my mom possessed. While daily visiting my baby sister in the hospital, she somehow managed to keep up with the rest of us kiddo’s.
While I was living in California and my brother back at college, I found that my mom would regularly call to check and make sure that we were okay. After being with my sister in the hospital, I found that my world seemed consumed with her and I really struggled with functioning outside of her situation. So when my mom still managed to keep up with all of us kids in the midst of what was going on with my baby sister, I was dumbfounded. Like “how does she do that??”
It was then that I realized even more what a rare gift of love she and my father both possess. I’m confident that most would’ve been drained under the circumstances they were facing and rightly so. Yet my mother was able to have a reservoir of love that just kept pouring out on all of her children. I’m still amazed with all the love my mother continues to find and give out of her heart.
So today I salute my mother and all the mothers out there who seem to supply love out of an endless flow. You ladies are the best!
