You know we talk a lot about self love here at AricaAngelo.com and there’s a reason why. It’s no joke! Self love isn’t just some new fad. It’s not a quick trick you implement to get more love in your life, it’s not a feel good quick fix and it’s not a way into tricking the opposite sex into liking you more. When we talk about self love, it’s your life line to everything. Everything? Everything.
When a friend of mine recommended that I write more about self love it sounded like a good idea. I didn’t feel any life changing power that resonated within my being, it was more like “Eh, I guess it’s a good idea.” So I started it, put more focus on self love and you know what? I began feeling the benefits of this whole self love thing. Naturally the more you focus on anything it grows, so the fact that I’ve been able to reap the benefits from this as well has been phenomenal. I’m just so glad my girlfriend didn’t ask me to write about abstaining from donuts or coffee in relationships, otherwise we’d all be screwed!
What I’m learning most about this concept of self love is that its an ongoing process. It’s a journey and it most definitely is not the one time fix. Its a practice that you must continually practice and apply. Too many times we get comfortable going to outside sources to fill our love tank. We want our partner to love us more. We want the guy/woman we just started dating to text us more, pay a bit more attention because in actuality we need our love tanks filled. ”Why didn’t that guy/woman from the bar call me yet? Ugh he/she must not be into me!” Which really means, “once again someone has reiterated to me that I’m not worth it, I’m not lovable.”
The truth of the matter is we carry the love in ourselves. While driving back to LA, there were points that I really went out of my way to love on myself as the drive was quite draining at times. Whether it was going out on a dinner date by myself, or by taking the time to nurture myself by getting to bed early and reading a book, or simply just working out, it was necessary. Of course once I arrived in LA I continued with the self love by going for a run along the beach and scheduling a massage for myself.
As the days went by and the transition took its toll, I had to remind myself again “It’s time to love on some Arica Angelo.” The simple act of just rubbing my arms and feeling peace inside was so important for me. I reminded myself that I am worthy to stop the busyness and just love on myself. I felt depleted. ”What’s wrong with me, why am I so on the edge??” Just a simple touch brought me back to the truth, “Oh yes Arica you are so lovable and that deep reservoir of love is inside you, just tap into it!”
Whether you’re single and searching for love, in a relationship and just wanting your partner to love on you oh so better, or not on the journey, but you find yourself living life on empty, I assure you self love is your remedy. This self love business is no joke!
