Have you seen the commercial that reassures you that it’s okay to buy their product simply “because you’re worth it”? Pretty brilliant marketing if you ask me, hit the worth button and watch the cash flow. If you think about it, how silly is it that we have to be told we’re worth it? How often times do you have to justify to yourself why it’s okay to buy that next pair of shoes? Why do you need to explain to yourself why it’s okay to go on that vacation? While I’m not advocating excessive spending or not honoring budgets, I am however addressing our need to coerce ourselves into taking care of us.
The unfortunate thing is this same thought process follows us into our dating and relationships. Marriages can also suffer when a lack of worth or not paying attention to our worth plays a role. Here’s the thing, valuing you, assuring yourself of your worth is pertinent to your welfare, to your relationships, to your life. Daily making choices to honor your worth, really valuing yourself and making those decisions whether big or small, add to the bank of YOU.
We talk about self love and how loving you is incredibly important, but that’s so broad. To break it down, its the decisions you make throughout the day, everyday that either add and reiterate to you, your self love and your worth or breaks it down and throws it away. Simple things like “I’m not going to let that person talk down to me”, “I’m going to take time to enjoy the beautiful clouds and breathe”, “I’m going to take time out of my busy schedule to get that latte”, “I’m booking that massage that’s way overdue”.
When we constantly remind ourselves of our worth and take the actions that line up with what we’re saying about ourselves, that same behavior and thought process follows us into our dating, relationships and marriages. It sure takes a load off of our companions and future hopefuls. It says “I’m not placing all of the responsibility of loving me on you, because I daily choose to recognize my worth, when you love on me it’s just an added bonus that I get to enjoy!”
Let me remind you that You are indeed worth it! You’re worth the investment, you’re worth the love, you’re worth the time so make sure to do it. Don’t just read this, but actively participate in reminding yourself of your worth and making choices/decisions that line up with your worth. Because you’re worth it!
