The other night I was chatting with my girlfriend about relationships at a friends birthday party. She said something to me that I thought was really brilliant and something I had never heard before. She said "It was a cruel joke for God to put man and woman together!"
To which I almost spit out my Sauvignon Blanc over. I laughed out loud as I knew there was a sense of truth that resonated with this statement.
It's true, men and women can be so different and with that comes lots of frustration over our differences.
Remember the movie Revenge of the Nerds?
Well who would've thought that the day of dating nerds and them becoming the new "hot guys" would ever come? The time has arrived and women everywhere agree.
But nothing could be better than what Mr. Mack Zuckerberg had to say to a beloved grandmother regarding nerd stardom.
A loving grandmother had commented to Mr. Zuckerberg that she encouraged her granddaughter to "date the nerd in school, he may turn out to be a Mark Zuckerberg."
While this may sound like some great advice, the advice Mark Zuckerberg returned was impeccable. He said,
I posted this the other day all over my social media. Yah that's right my Facebook, my Twitter, my Instagram and my GooglePlus.
And yes I just hyperlinked all of them, so you better go follow me on ALL of them.
Okay now that I just socially bullied you, I want to chat with you about a topic that's most precious and important to my heart.
You. And you loving yourself.
Did you ever a picture a life that you knew you were supposed to have?
Oddly enough, life has an interesting way of throwing you curve balls. Sometimes the paths you thought and hoped you would take don't always go in that direction.
Naturally at the time it seems frustrating and you wonder what you could've done to get it down the path you had hoped would happen.
But as you continue to watch, your journey most of the time ends up better than you had anticipated.
Have you been using any of the dating apps out there?
If not, you're missing out on a plethora of them.
Dating apps don't work, you do.
"You better find someone and quick!"
Do you ever get that feeling when it comes to meeting your future partner?
Wherever the pressure comes from, it you let it, finding that special someone can become a daunting path.
I've done it to myself and on a number of occasions. Let's just say more times than I care to admit.
It's Saturday night and there he is all alone. Him and another round of the latest Xbox game that he's determined to beat.
In his mind he tells himself, "This is me checking out. I'm giving myself a break."
It's a new season, which means more slogans and memes to crowd your Facebook and Instagram!
That's not where I'm going with this. With all of the encouragement that you'll be hearing and seeing about going out and conquering this great world, I'll give you another take.
This is a time about your permission.
