Today I read a brilliant article my friend Barry Selby wrote called “A Call to the Divine Feminine: Ten Bold Invitations from the Sacred Masculine.” You can read it here http://www.elephantjournal.com/2012/06/a-call-to-the-divine-feminine-ten-bold-invitations-from-the-sacred-masculine-barry-selby/. I thought it was so on point that I had to share it on my Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.
In the article, Barry calls on women and challenges women to be just that, women! Now his article is in response to an article that is calling men to be men. Honestly I’m so thankful that these have been written because it’s where a lot of my pet peeves come in. There’s so much truth to this article and I’m convinced that being our truest selves is something that is desperately wanted in the single world, relationships and in life period.
I wear stiletto’s daily, I love having my make up in place, I wear pearl earrings to work out, I believe in smiling a lot and I do my best to not meet a stranger. Bottom line is this, I love my femininity. In the same token, I love when a man is a man. A man who is a gentleman, courageous, possesses chivalry and still has charm intact, is incredibly sexy and irresistible. Watching a man who enjoys his masculinity is the hotness of hot!!
I hate seeing women who act like boys, act trashy, forget what body part they have between their legs and run around trying to date like men. Grant it I definitely have my sides that are far from poised as I can be one to have the most crude sense of humor that is only fitting to a sailor and his crew. I also hate men who are whiny, wimpy, who forget that they are men and who expect their women to be be the strong one they can hang on to. Grosses me out!
Ladies, men are craving for us to be ladies, to offer our femininity and to do it unapologetically. Men we love you because you are men, we love you for your strength, we love you for your courage and despite how strong as women we are becoming, there are still those times that we want you to take charge!
I love to see a woman who still remembers what elegance is, I adore this type of woman and constantly pursue to become better in this department. I love a woman who is exceptionally strong, yet can display such tenderness that most feel safe and welcomed in her presence. I love a woman who is open and vulnerable enough to share how she feels, that doesn’t play games and wears transparency like a silky fitted garment.
I love a man who possesses courage, who is not turned by the opinion of others, but remains true to his destiny and calling. I love a man of integrity who will face truth no matter the cost. I love a man who is confident in his strength that is brave enough to be the shoulder to cry on, strong enough to display meekness when his lady needs to take the lead and says “no” when the word is desperately needed.
I hate false strength, I hate cowards, I hate liars, I hate those who play 2nd rate to who they are really meant to be. I may not hate the person, but the traits I despise.
Love being you, the real you. Don’t hide, don’t be afraid and don’t wait around for someone to give you the permission. Give yourself the permission now, embrace your femininity, embrace your masculinity and for god’s sake, don’t be afraid!!
